DOK 5 was set up in 2001 by Jasper Baggerman, Eng. He had developed an idea for a new game, Het Vakantielandenspel® (the Holiday Destination Game), and dreamt about bringing it on the market. So he did. It became a big hit. Over 350,000 games were sold and game manufacturer Ravensburger bought the license to sell the game to the German-speaking market.

After a second successfully developed and launched idea was followed by a third, it became clear to DOK 5 that each idea goes through the same steps in the innovation process. An idea, the industry, market parties and forms of protection may be different, but the steps needed to be taken from idea to success are nearly identical.

A method was thus developed making use of DOK 5's technological, commercial and judicial knowledge in order to systematically translate an idea into a business opportunity. Fast, cost efficient and effective, this method is the focal point of the book, "Ik heb een goed idee. Wat nu?"
